How long should i plan for it to take?

Our guests should plan on spending anywhere from two to three hours on average from their scheduled check-in time to the time they leave with us here at Skydive Mountain City in ideal conditions. However, we ask our guests to clear four to six hours of their day for us just in case there are any unforeseen weather delays that may cause a longer wait before being able to jump.

What will my training be like for tandem jumps?

Most people get their first introduction to the sport of skydiving through a tandem skydive, involving a tandem instructor and you, the passenger. Your instructor will go over everything you need to know. A Tandem Skydive is designed for you to experience skydiving without much training. Your instructor has years of experience and have gone through training and test to receieve their tandem instructor rating. You will practice your exit on the ground with your tandem instructor (TI) during what we call “dirt diving”. You will have plenty of time to ask your instructor any questions you may have.

Can i skydive if it is rainy/cloudy?

Skydiving is an activity that is weather dependent. There are many measures in place to ensure your safety, and these include limits on the winds we can jump in as well as the amount of cloud coverage as regulated by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). Clouds limit visibility, so we are not allowed to jump through clouds. We also do not jump in the rain or in thunderstorms for obvious reasons. If we have to cancel operations due to weather or any other unforseen circumstances, you can reschedule without penalty if your jump is canceled due to weather.

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations aren’t required but are highly encouraged, and we recommend reserving your spot to help secure your jump. At Skydive Mountain City, we accept walk-ins if there is space available on our aircraft; however, those with reservations get priority over walk-ins.

How fast will I go in freefall?

On average, you will fall about 120 miles per hour in freefall.

Can I bring a camera/gopro to film my jump?

Personal GoPros or any other camera/phone are not allowed on the jump. However, our professional tandem instructors will offer you the option of purchasing an edited handcam video of your jump from start to finish. These rules are in place to ensure your safety; cameras and associated gear add additional hazards and dangers in which the jumper will need advanced training and experience to mitigate.

Can i be on the same plane as other people in my group?

Typically, and in most cases, we bring tandems up one or two at a time. However, at times we might bring in a larger aircraft and can then bring several people up at once. It can also be that we might bring up one tandem at a time up as well. The size of your group, the number of instructors working on the day you jump, and the aircraft we are using will determine our ability to accommodate your requests.
